Dimmu Borgir adalah band beraliran Symphonic Black Metal dari Oslo, Norwegia. Dibentuk pada tahun 1992.
Dimmu Borgir berarti "kota gelap" atau "kastil / benteng gelap" di Islandia, Faroe dan Old Norse. Nama ini berasal dari formasi gunung berapi di Islandia, Dimmuborgir.
Band ini telah banyak melalui perubahan line-up selama bertahun-tahun, Silenoz (gitaris) dan Shagrath (vokalis) adalah anggota pendiri yang tersisa.
